Hand Written Family Tree

The design of this tree is a simple arrangement of names in white ink on brown paper.
-Begin by forming the tree's trunk with all the names of the present generation of siblings.-Create two branches, which move off to the left and right, to represent each parent; the length of each person's name will determine the length of each of the branches. Annotate their marriage date with a little twig that shoots off from the base of where these branches join.-Grandparents, great-grandparents, and so on form the subsequent splits in the branches. Each V marks a spot where two people were joined in marriage. At the base of each split, mark the marriage date with a little twig.

I Found this on Martha Stewart's Website while I was looking for a family tree wall that she has in this month's magazine. It is a wall with framed written (calligraphy) family names. It was really pretty. I ran across this and I like this too. When I find a picture of the other one I will post that one too.

This is an awesome idea. I think I'm going to have to steal it!

What a great idea. It's such a nice way to remember ancestors names, yet at the same time it is graphically pleasing.
