Wicked

Has anyone read this book? I am curious to hear what you think of it?

Well, you asked, so....

I hated it -- didn't even finish it, which is very rare for me. The world view was bleak (some possibly offensive scenes in it as well) and the writing was opaque -- half the time I didn't feel I understood what was happening. I wouldn't recommend it at all (it appears to be completely different from the musical, fwiw).

This link should take you to my full review (not a lot more to it):

I've wanted to read it, but haven't yet. I've been struggling through his other book, "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister." Normally "I can just whiz through books, but this one just isn't super appealing. I keep picking up other books instead of finishing this one. He's not easy reading, that's for sure. I'm assuming Wicked is along the same lines.

I read it and liked it for the most part. It's not my typical genre, but I enjoyed reading it anyway. There were parts I thought were totally wacked (the tiger part?), but got through them anyway. I read Son of a Witch (the sequel) and HATED it. Felt like he went way off. The author lives in my friend's neighborhood and she has gone to hear him speak several times. He's very intelligent and creative.

I have seen the musical three times, however, and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your kind words!
